Rare and Hard-to-Find Jams

Dennis Weaver Dennis Weaver Jun 21, 2024

Jams are such a nice experience in life. Put them on your biscuits, your muffins, and your toast.

But there's more to life than strawberry jam. Strawberry jam is good but it's exciting to try something new and different, maybe even a "bucket jam".

These are great gourmet jams. Try one on that fancy new bread you're making.

  • I love the inclusion of boysenberry jam on here. My grandparents grew boysenberries trellised in front of their fence in their back yard (which also featured tomatoes, lemons, and wonderful avocado and apricot trees – not bad for a rather small yard, and showed that my farm-raised grandfather retained a green thumb in the So Cal suburbs). My grandmother made jam from apricots she grew, but I do not remember if she ever made jam from the berries. We lived near Knott’s Berry Farm, which was important to the development of the berry, even if most are grown much farther north now, so there was always easy access to commercial boysenberry products. The wonderful trees and bushes had all stopped producing by the time I was in my mid-teens and I no longer live in California, so the taste of boysenberries reminds me of the carefree days of my youth and the people I loved most.
