There's something about banana bread that feels like home. Warm banana bread filled with sweet little pockets of melted cinnamon that burst with flavor in every bite.  It's the banana bread that you'll keep coming back to--simple to make, impossible to resist.

For the best flavor and texture, let it cool and then refrigerate it--the flavors meld beautifully, and it slices cleanly.

  • Banana bread sandwich. A PB&J on banana bread is fabulous. Creamy peanut butter and your favorite jelly between slices of cinnamon-spiced banana bread. The kids will love it.
  • Banana bread French toast. Thick slices dipped in egg, fried golden, and dusted with powdered sugar--pure heaven!
  • Strawberry cream cheese sandwiches. Whip strawberry jam into softened cream cheese and spread between slices--makes perfect little slices. Store them in the refrigerator.
  • Banana bread muffins. Just scoop the batter into a muffin pan and bake.
  • Banana bread shortcake. Instead of vanilla cake, use banana bread. Top it with fresh strawberries, nuts, and whipped cream.
  • Banana bread sundaes. Warm slices in the microwave for 15 seconds. Add ice cream. Drizzle it with caramel or chocolate. Add whipped cream, maybe banana slices, and crushed nuts.

Questions about banana bread and how to make it

  • What makes this banana bread the best? It's our favorite banana bread recipe loaded with real banana flavor, plus those sweet cinnamon chips that melt into little pockets of warm cinnamon in every bite. It's seriously hard to beat.
  • What makes this so "banana-y"? I can't make mine that "banana-y".  We found an amazing banana flavor from a supplier in Chicago, and we use a lot of it. That's why ours tastes so much like real bananas.
  • Do I still need to add ripe bananas? Yes, please do--nothing beats the flavor of really ripe bananas. When you combine them with our banana flavor and cinnamn chips, it's pure magic.
  • What if my bananas are really ripe, almost black? Oh, that's even better--the riper, the more banana flavor.
  • What if they're really ugly? Then they're like gold! Pop them in a zipper bag and freeze them. They're liquid gold.
  • The cake is really moist and luscious. Is that the bananas? Maybe a little. It's mostly the recipe.
  • Why do you say to store the loaf in the refrigerator? It's like magic. The flavors seem to meld and mature and the bread holds together with hardly any crumbs.
  • I see you make sandwiches with banana bread. Really? Oh, yes. My favorite is strawberry cream cheese on banana bread. The kids will love PB&J on banana bread.
  • One more question: Does this make a full-sized loaf? Yes, it makes a large 9-inch by 5-inch loaf. One customer made two smaller loaves so that she could give one away.
