Baked or fried--how to make little pies in 15 minutes!

(Includes directions for 15-minute pizza pockets and pocket sandwiches for supper!)

With this nifty tool, you can make fancy little pies in minutes. Roll out the dough. Use the press to cut, fill, and seal your little pies.  Use your favorite pie filling.  Stick them in the oven and you're done.

It just takes minutes.

How to make 15-minute pizza pockets and sandwiches!

Use pizza dough for the crust. Instead of pie filling, use premade fillings, like cooked sausage or ham. Maybe add cheese and pizza sauce--anything you want. Stick them in the oven.

By the time the table's set, they'll be ready.

You can also make piroshki and calzones.

Prepare make-ahead meals for those impossible nights!

You can freeze your pizza pockets before you bake them. Then on those impossible nights, stick them in the oven. They'll be ready to serve before you get the table set.

Think about it! You can have a dozen emergency meals--or quick desserts--stashed in your freeze.

Individually wrap them for the freezer.  You don't need to thaw them.  Just bake them for about 20 minutes at 375 degrees--or until golden brown.

How to make little fried pies!

Make your filling from scratch or use a premade pie filling.

If you're making an apple pie filling from scratch, cut the apple into cubes no larger than 1/4-inch (so the apple pieces will cook through).

Heat three inches of vegetable oil until hot, about 355 degrees. Slip the pies into the hot oil one or two at a time allowing the temperature of the oil to recover after each. Let them cook for eight to ten minutes or until golden-colored.

Remove them to a plate covered with paper towels. Serve them hot or cold.

What others say!

"I LOVE this dough press!!! My family uses it to make turnovers for dessert or pizza pockets for dinner."--Tiffany Dillon (Rigby, ID)

So, give it a go. Make both quick meals and fun, yummy desserts.

Step 1: Roll and Cut the Dough

Roll out the die dough to about a quarter-inch thick. Use your dough press to cut the dough into six-inch circles.

Step 2: Add the Filling

Place a dough circle on the dough press. The dough will follow the bowl-shaped contour of the press. Place 1/4 cup filling in the formed bowl. Using the dough press, fold the dough over to make a turnover and press firmly to seal.

Step 3: Bake the Turnovers

Place the turnovers on a lightly greased baking sheet and bake in your preheated oven at 375 degrees for 15 minutes or until lightly golden.

Step 4—Glaze the Turnovers

Make a glaze from powdered sugar and water. One cup powdered sugar is about right for this size recipe. Add enough water, about 1 1/2 tablespoons, to reach drizzling consistency and brush the glaze on the tops of the turnovers while still warm.
