How to Make Sweet Potato Fries

Dennis Weaver Dennis Weaver

These are all-purpose fries. Make them for lunch or with burgers. They go equally with a late-night supper. They are so quick and easy to make.

You can make them thin, like these, or thick, like steak fries. And they have a secret ingredient to make them extra crispy!

Ingredients:

3-4 large sweet potatoes

1 tbsp cornstarch

2 tbsp Olive oil

1-2 Tbsp seasonings of your choice (paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper, Italian seasoning, pumpkin pie spice, etc.) or just plain salt

 Directions:

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F.

Begin by peeling your sweet potatoes and cutting off both ends. Cut the potatoes into sticks about ¼-inch thick. If you like thicker steak fries, cut your slices to approximately ½ inch thick.

Place fries on a greased baking sheet, and here is where the secret ingredient comes into play. Dust the fries with a light coating of cornstarch. Use your hands to coat them evenly, so you no longer see any white powder.

Add your olive oil, and again, use your hands to coat the sweet potato wedges evenly. Sprinkle on your seasonings of choice.

Arrange your fries in a single layer. Make sure you don’t crowd them, or they will not crisp up.

Bake for 20 minutes. Use a spatula to flip the fries so they cook evenly, and bake for another 10-15 minutes until crisp and cooked through. Be careful not to burn them. Once finished, salt to your taste, and serve immediately with a dipping sauce of your choice.
