Cream Cheese or Bavarian Cream Overnight French Toast

Surprise Your Family with Overnight Baked Stuffed French Toast.

The recipe below calls for an optional cream cheese or Bavarian cream pastry filling to stuff your French toast, but you can use any filling of your choice.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

  1. Melt the butter in a 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Stir in the brown sugar and one teaspoon of cinnamon.
  2. Make six sandwiches with the bread filled with pastry cream, cream cheese, or another filling. Lay the sandwiches in the pan as shown.
  3. Whisk the eggs, milk, and cinnamon together. Pour the mixture evenly over the bread. Sprinkle the 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon over the bread. Place the pan in the refrigerator overnight.
  4. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until the bread is browned. Serve hot with maple syrup, peach syrup, or cinnamon apple syrup. Top with butter or honey butter.

 

To make your own Cream Cheese Filling

  • 8 ounces of cream cheese filling, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 teaspoon Madagascar vanilla or equal

Directions

  1. With your mixer and a beater attachment, whip the cream cheese and sugar together until soft and well blended.
  2. Add the egg yolk, lemon juice, and vanilla and whip until well blended. You will have a soft, spreadable filling.
