Makes 12 large dinner rolls, 16 smaller dinner rolls, or 8 hamburger buns.

Homemade dinner rolls and burger buns are not hard to make. And they're the bomb!

Mix the dough in your bread machine or stand-type mixer. Use a knife to cut the dough into equal-sized pieces. If you want them exactly the same size, use a kitchen scale.

Shape them into little round balls, place them in a well-greased pan--a 9x13-inch pan is perfect--and let them rise until they're puffy. Patiently.

Bake them at 350 degrees.

The hardest part is patience. Let them grow and grow. Eventually, you'll start to get blisters. Now you'll have big, soft rolls.

If you stuck them in the oven just before blisters started to form--you're good.  If you see three or four blisters starting to form, pop them with the point of a knife and hurry them to the oven.

It's easy to make perfect rolls--even the first time.

These are wonderful dinner rolls--perfect for Sunday dinner and the standard of homemade heirloom rolls.

  • Makes the equivalent of a large loaf.
  • SAF yeast packet is enclosed. You provide only water and butter.
  • Directions and tips for perfect rolls are included. You can make this bread in your bread machine, by hand, or with a stand-type mixer. Using your bread machine, use the dough cycle, then form the rolls, let them rise, and bake them in your oven.

This makes fabulous hamburger buns. Homemade burger buns are much better than store buns, just as homemade bread is better. These are also great sandwich buns.

To make hamburger buns:

You make them exactly as dinner rolls, except they're bigger--eight hamburger buns per mix is perfect. And you flatten them a bit when they're rising.

Press them down two to three times with the back of your hand and then let them finish rising until they are puffy like dinner rolls.

You can make hamburger buns out of any bread mix. That will blow your guests away!

Sour cream onion rolls (above) make perfect burgers. Black Russian bread makes memorable burgers.  Cheesy jalapeno bread or salsa bread (below) takes burgers to a different planet.

Sunday dinner rolls Another Mix I love. I throw it in my bread maker and do the first rise. Pull it out and shape your rolls and let them raise again. Bake and perfect every time.  --Jill Kienlen
easy yummy rolls These rolls were easy to make using my stand mixer, and the rolls were delicous. They are great the next day, too. I like them so much that I bought at least 6 more packages of the roll mix.  --Pamela Belanger
Sunday Dinner Rolls makes great burger buns I love this mix for making hamburger buns. I get 8 buns from the mix. The buns are unlike anything you can buy in the store. When I invite people to a BBQ, they are amazed. I mix the dough in my bread machine for 90 minutes. Then form 8 buns, place them on a cookie sheet covered in a proofing bag for 45 minutes to rise. Bake for about 20 to 25 minutes. Super easy. Love them!  --Patricia Robinson
