  • No "white flour." Made with buckwheat and whole wheat flour.
  • More substance than buttermilk pancakes and slightly chewy
  • Sweetened with honey--no sugar added.

These are light and fluffy with a rich, golden color.  The buckwheat flour is paired with our best stone-ground wheat flour from Montana and sweetened with just a bit of honey.

I love these pancakes. I love hearty, healthy pancakes with substance. Buckwheat flour has a rich, nutty flavor, making wonderful pancakes and waffles.

Not only are they satisfyingly delicious, but they are also packed with nutrients that your body will thank you for. Buckwheat is a great source of fiber, plant-based protein, and various vitamins and minerals, making it an all-around powerhouse ingredient.

Buckwheat pancakes make a wonderful canvas to explore. Everything from honey to fresh fruit works with buckwheat. We're especially partial to buttermilk syrup on buckwheat pancakes.

Honey Whole Wheat Buckwheat pancake is 5 star mix. We loved the pancakes. They were light and fluffy and golden brown. I did find I needed to use a little more oil in the pan than I usually do. We loved the wheat flavor. When the first pancake was done we tasted it and decided it would be a great snack just plain. Then we tried it with Butter Rum Buttermilk syrup. After devouring 2 pancakes, Mixed up more batter so we could each have another. They were so delicious. The syrup and pancakes are a winning combination. I placed an order for more.

This is a healthy choice.  Buckwheat flour is very high in nutritional value, with fiber, amino acids, protein, niacin, vitamin B, and other vitamins.

Learn more about the history of buckwheat pancakes.

There is almost a cult following for buckwheat pancakes. But it's hard to find a buckwheat pancake mix. Years ago, Aunt Jemimiah (Quaker) made buckwheat pancakes. They were popular, the "gold standard" of buckwheat pancakes.  Alas, they were discontinued many years ago.

There are certainly many recipes out there and some commercial mixes. Most of those call for all-purpose (white) flour. There is no need to use white flour. Whole wheat is healthier and more nutritious, and the buckwheat flour gives the pancakes a whole wheat-like texture.
A generation ago, buckwheat pancakes were popular. Our parents loved them. They were good and good for you. You could buy buckwheat pancake mixes in the grocery store. The most popular brand was Aunt Jemimah Buckwheat Pancake Mix, owned by the Quaker Oat Company.  They also supplied buckwheat pancakes to restaurants and diners.

And then they stopped making the mixes, maybe twenty years ago.  There has been a buckwheat pancake following since. You can find buckwheat pancake recipes, but it's tough to find a mix.

Well, we now have a buckwheat pancake mix.

We don't have the old Aunt Jemimiah formula, so we developed our own, but maybe close. We're using a combination of buckwheat flour and stone ground whole wheat flour. There is no refined white flour.  The pancake mix is sweetened with a touch of honey--a natural buckwheat pancake breakfast from yesteryear.

The buckwheat flour is the star of the show, with lots of nutrients and a nutty-like flavor from the buckwheat. The buckwheat provides a wholesome, goodness; there is no need for white flour. There is enough substance that you won't be hungry mid morning.

We use whole wheat flour with the buckwheat.  It makes little difference to the texture, but adds flavor, and is healthier.
