    It's nutty--loaded with sunflower seeds. It's kissed with cinnamon with a touch of honey. Yet it's not a sweet bread, sweeter than a sandwich loaf but not sweet like banana bread. It's moist, delicious, and wholesome.  

    You'll find sunflower seeds in every bite. The cinnamon tints the bread a warm light brown color.

    It works as toast, a buttery cinnamon toast. It works with any jam or honey.

    Treat it like a bagel

    I've never met a cream cheese spread that I didn't like and I certainly like it on this bread. The trick is to make it smooth, spreadable, and flavorful. Softening your cream cheese in the microwave helps. Granulated sugar tends to cut through the cream cheese making it softer and easier to spread.

    • 8-ounce block of cream cheese
    • 2-tablespoons granulated sugar
    • Jam or pastry filling to taste.
    1. Soften the cream cheese in the microwave for about 12 seconds.
    2. Whip the sugar and the cream cheese together in your stand-type mixer until almost smooth. Do not overwhip.
    3. Add the jam or pastry filling and continue whipping until combined.

    Refrigerate any leftovers.

    More that you can make

    • Make peanut butter and jam sandwiches.  The sunflower seeds make it extra crunchy.
    • Add 3/4 cup raisins or dates to your bread before mixing or kneading.
    • Make apple cinnamon rolls. Use apple pie or apple pastry filling.
    • Make a sandwich loaf in a large 9x5-inch loaf pan. Use your stand-type mixer or set your bread machine to the dough cycle.

    Directions for use in the oven

    To bake this mix in your oven, follow the directions on the package.

    1. Place the mix in your stand-type mixer along with the yeast (if any) and melted butter or oil (if any).  Add water.  Use 110-degree water instead of 80 degrees.

    2. With the dough hook, mix slowly until the dough ball forms. Turn the speed to medium-high and mix for five to ten minutes until the gluten forms and the dough becomes stretchy and elastic.  

    3. Place the dough in a large greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled, about one hour, depending on room temperature.

    4. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.  Turn the dough onto a lightly greased or floured work area and form your loaf. Place your dough in a 9 x 5-inch pan or other pan and let rise until the size has doubled and bubbles are about to surface.  

    5. When the bread has raised, place the loaf on the center rack of the oven. Bake for 35 minutes or until the bread is done. The internal temperature should reach 190 degrees.  Remove the loaf from the pan and let it cool slightly before slicing.

    *NOTE: If you make this bread in your bread machine, water temperature is critical.  Please use a thermometer to measure water at 80 degrees and we'll guarantee the bread.  If you are baking the bread in the oven, use water that is 110 degrees.
