Pie Crust Shield

Measures 10 inches x 10 inches x 0.5 inches.

The top edge of the crust--along the rim of the pie--is brutally exposed to the heat of the oven. The pie pan heats and cooks the crust and the top and edges are exposed to the hot air of the oven. No wonder the rims on our pies burn.

Plus the soggy bottoms are gone. When you stop the burn, you can bake your pie until the bottom is baked and on longer doughy.

Every Thanksgiving, when I made pumpkin pies, I carefully arranged pieces of tin foil along the edges of the pies to keep them from burning. It didn't work very well. Pieces of foil fell off or dropped into the filling making a mess. You can avoid all that. Just slip a pie shield over each pie before putting it in the oven.

These really are perfect pie shields. They're durable and reusable. You can stick them in the dishwasher. The light aluminum color reflects heat. They have a turned-down edge to protect even the edges of your pies.

Because you invest so much in your pies and because your pies are the crowning touch of your meal, don't risk baking pies without a shield. Get a pie shield for each pie that you bake. If you bake three pies at once, you'll need three shields.

Everything I have tried is two marks above excellent. All those that I have shared with have become customers. So glad that I found Prepared Pantry so many years ago while looking for bread machine mixes for my mother and I could always count on fresh bread every time I was at her home (twice a month at least).

No more aluminum foil that doesn't stay on and ruins the finish on my pumpkin pie. These shields work great! I usually take them off 5 to 10 mins. before the pie's finished to see if it needs any further browning. No more burnt crusts! Yay!!

The best kitchen "hand me down" that I ever acquired. For all you pie makers this is a must! I use my pie shield so frequently its getting that baked on amber glow. Any suggestions for cleaning that off without using "elbow grease" and accidentally bending it?

I have several of these and use them with every pie I bake (several a month). These were a gift for my grown son who actually requested them on his Christmas wish list since he loves to bake too. They are wonderful and so much easier to use than trying to shape foil around the edge of a pie before baking. Big hint: Spray the inside of the Pie Shield with Pam or a similar non-stick cooking spray before using it. Makes removal for browning part way through the baking process much easier.

I have been baking for over 50 years. I have never had an earier product to use than the pie shield. I would give the shield a six star rating. It would be a wonderful gift for a newly wed. Thanks for the great product. Shirley May RN
