Organic Vindaloo: Flavor of Southwest India

VindalooVindaloo is the Goan people's Southwest Indian interpretation of a traditional Portuguese wine and meat dish.  The heat of our Vindaloo is brief and pleasant without burning, followed by spice, salt and sweet.  Combine with wine, coconut milk, broth or water and a bit of vinegar in making a traditional vindaloo curry.  We also use it as a dry rub on grilled and pan fried meats and tofu, and mixed in to ground meats.

Vindaloo spices

I recently bought the vindaloo spice because I liked the receipe on top of the can. That night I was fixing a tomato based chicken enchilada. As I looked at my receipe and the spices it called for, I realized all those spices were in my new can of vindaloo, and then some. I scrapped all the chopping and sauteing of garlic and onions, ect. and just added the vindaloo. Best enchiladas ever!! and so EASY!! I have added it to my beef stew and followed the receipe on the can for a great dinner! It's got a small amount of heat to it, tastes some what like a super hootie taco seasoning - but much better! Great way to put together a yummy meal without spending so much time in the kitchen!!
