Turkey Tacos
These are traditional tacos made with leftover turkey meat. This is an excellent recipe for the dark meat from the turkey.
Ingredients
1/2 cup diced onions
2 cups cooked, shredded turkey meat
1/2 cup salsa Verde
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon chili powdercorn tortillas (if you prefer, flour tortillas can be substituted)
shredded cheddar cheese
diced tomatoes
shredded lettuce
sour creamDirections
- Sauté the onions in a little oil in a large skillet. Add the meat, salsa Verde, cumin, garlic powder, salt and chili powder. Mix and cook until hot. Set aside.
- Cook the corn tortillas, one at a time, in a hot skillet with oil. Turn to cook both sides. As they finish cooking, lay them on paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
- Fold the tortillas and add a couple tablespoons of the turkey meat filling. Top with grated cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, and sour cream as desired.
Makes about 12 tacos.
