Roast hotdogs, hamburgers, or marshmallows
Kids love cookouts. They love roasting marshmallows. Some love roasting them better than eating them—unless there are graham crackers and chocolate waiting to surround the toasted roasted burnt treat
A few years ago my husband Wayne and I had quite a large additions built onto our home. I was pleased, in part, because the addition would take up a lot of what I thought was an uncommonly large back yard, making it manageable, one I could take care of. Then he told me about his plans. He envisioned a large picnic area beyond the old back yard; he’d build a grassy berm lined with pine trees with a fire pit below and a flood light, so our cookouts could go long into the night. All I could think about at the time was all the work it would entail, mowing, watering. You know the routine.
Now I’m a believer. We don’t have to travel any further than our back yard to fry hamburgers, roast hot dogs, or burn marshmallows.
