Beans are a great protein source and combine well in many different dishes. Some remain firm after cooking, others get mushy and soft. And you can't can for posterity; fresh produce declines in taste, not to mention vitamin and mineral content, if saved much beyond six months in home storing of any kind. As members of the church we have been counseled for years to prepare and keep on hand at least a one-year supply of eats.

Dried pastawhile i make a lot of homemade pasta, i still keep quite a bit in our storing pantry. We keep a pump bottle of antibacterial soap at the kitchen sink and wash hands and arms well.
