How to Make Fruit Syrup

This is a simple sugar syrup to which fruit is added.  The recipe can be doubled. 

1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/2 cup water
1 cup individually frozen berries or other fruit

  1. Whisk the sugar and cornstarch together in a heavy saucepan.  Add the water.
  2. Cook the syrup until it bubbles and thickens.  Remove from the heat. 
  3. Stir in the fruit.
