Himalayan red rice is an ancient rice grown in the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains. It is a long grain rice with a deep, rosy color. It has a nutty, complex flavor. It works well in casseroles, pilaf, fried rice, and as a side dish.

Do something different! Serve Himalayan Red Rice for dinner! It can be cooked with white rice for a striking visual presentation. Cook as you would brown rice.

Suggested Uses:
The firm and hearty texture of Red Rice is perfect for Rice Salads and Rice Pilaf dishes. The full shape and rosy color make it a wonderful choice for meals showcasing rice. It goes remarkably well with steamed vegetables, grilled fish, and light meats. Combine Red Rice with White Rice for textural and visual interest.

Recommended Preparation Instructions:
Rinse well. Place 1 cup rice, 2 cups water, and 1/4 tsp. salt in pan. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer on low, covered, for 35 minutes. Red rice cooks into individual, firm grains. One cup dry yields 3 cups cooked.
