These may sound frivolous, but through the years i've talked with many people who have lived entirely on their storing for extended periods of time. Doing so will save you time, money, and effort. We use half white flour to make it lighter. The modern powered egg is much better than the old "green eggs" of military service days. Flours and grainsman may not live by breads alone, but grains form the base for many meals, especially during a period of hard times. White flour, once considered a delicacy for the upper classes, replaced whole wheat flour as the cheapest, most widely produced flour. At one time i stored our water in big plastic monster containers. Archaeological evidence suggests that yeast-risen wheat breads were developed in egypt around 4000 years ago. These are especially important if you have children. You can add any specialty flours your family likes, such as rye, amaranth, or durham (for specialty pastas). Dehydrate until they are hard and puckered. I also stock about 20 pounds of corn meal, 20 pounds of masa harina de maize (corn flour) which i use to make tamales and corn tortillas, along with 25 pounds of popcorn (grinds nicely for cornmeal, as well as popping for treats), and 25 pounds of hominy corn (makes hominy and also masa harina de maize).
