This frosting is made with the professional buttercream frosting base that many bakeries use. We buy the base in bulk and add flavor and powdered sugar. You add butter, shortening and water, and mix with your electric or stand-type mixer.
Add flavors like banana, lemon, or strawberry to make the frosting of your choice. Tint the frosting with Americolor color gel food colors.
Each mix makes nearly 2 1/2 pounds of frosting.
