From the manufacturer's instructions:

"Works best in a wok, frying pan, or stockpot two inches larger than the steamer. Place the steamer in the pan. Fill the pan with a small amount of water. The water level should come no higher than one inch below the bottom of the steamer.

"Place the food on lettuce or parchment paper in the steamer. Bring the water to a boil and place the lid on the steamer. Cook until done."

"For an extra flavorful dish, add herbs to the water. The food will soak up the aromas of the herbs, enhancing the flavors and the meal.
